The new bad ass on the block is officially available for sale today, that is if you can find one. When I first heard about the Canon 5D Mark II I was ready to throw my card down and get myself in debt for another couple years in that never ending quest for crispier shots. I just saw this at the grocery store and bought it. It brought a tear to my eye. the last monthly paper issue of SLAP. I’ve been reading slap the whole time its been a mag. This brings back all kinds of old memories like seeing the Pep face portrait issue for the first time. Brian Tucci in the mag on the regs. Seeing the first photos of a young Reese Forbes. Periodic East Coast awesome photo articles by Dawes. The Darren Harper check out with the gat. Covers for Gonz, Kenny Hughes, Scott Bourne, Kenny Reed, Fred Gall, Dan Murphy, Jack Curtin, Corey Duffel and Dan Drehobl to just name a few faves. Reading Scott Bournes column. When i was living in SF and seeing the office for the first time it was like seeing a place where magic was born. Later having my first published writings and photos ever were in SLAP. Thanks to Lance, Joe, and Mark for helping me out and giving me that chance. Much respect to Lance Dawes(you started a great mag and are a hardcore MF), Joe Brook(the man who initially schooled me in skate photography), Mark Whitely(you have been keeping a great mag a great mag for 10 years)and also to all the behind the scenes peeps like John, Tim, Erik, Judd, Brandy, Randy and others over the years i’m forgetting. From the bottom of my heart i wish you guys the best of luck with the future of SLAP in the digital realm. i’ll be waiting here at my laptop anxiously!!!
